Soccer

Jacob was finally old enough to play soccer this year. Teams start at age 5, but for Jacob's age, there is a 6 week skills camp. It is put on my the British Elite Soccer Team, which, really is, a team of professional British soccer players. They loved Jacob's last name... they would say, "McNaughton, that's strong Scottish name".. (in a British accent of course.)

The camp was a lot of fun. It was for 45 minutes on Friday mornings, which was just the right amount of time.

The coaches were amazing. They thought of really fun themes every week.. safari, pirate ship, Disney.. and did a lot of pretend play related to the themes.

The first week was pretty crazy, with Jacob taking the cones around the field, turning them upside down, putting his soccer ball on top, and pretending he had an ice cream cone. His coaches had quite a day with that one. They would disassemble one "ice cream cone" and set the cone back where it was supposed to go, and Jacob would be off in another corner doing the same thing again..

I am glad to say that by the end he stayed in for the whole 45 minutes and has become quite a good soccer player already!

I think the coach was pretending to be a pterodactyl or something and they had to hide their "soccer eggs".. Jacob did a good hiding job! :)

They were pretending to go up a roller coaster and they had to go around their ball 10 times to get to the top.
